Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024

Greetings and salutations on this day above ground, dear Reader, and welcome. I'm struggling to breathe right now, having taken all of my meds shortly after waking up today, including only 20mg of Prednisone; they're delivering a new nebulizer to me some time today so I'll be able to do at-home breathing treatments again since the rescue inhaler is no longer adequate by itself. I continue to take two other inhaled steroids as well. Anyway!

Today God is dealing with me with regard to some of my character flaws, specifically a short fuse (anger) as well as this vague (but pervasive) feeling of rejection which has no apparent cause that I am aware of at this moment; I'm searching those things out with prayer, asking Him to show me the Truth about myself in these areas.

I don't know where the anger comes from or I'd just deal with it at its root. And I mean, I can be set off by stupid and silly little things that  make this anger issue apparent to me: one example - the toilet seat is up (why does that even matter? that's not important, what is WRONG with me?!) It's so frustrating. It's not who I want to be at all, but here we are. The Word does say that we will know the Truth and that the Truth will set us free (John 8:31-32), so I'm holding on to that for dear life today, y'all. Like I say, I feel like my life can at least be used in cases as a good example of what NOT to do if nothing else. In that way, I feel very confident about holding myself up as an example to others with the disclaimer of "Here's what not to do".

Without any further ado, I'll copy and paste today's Proverb here (I always pull these from biblegateway.com, by the way, in case you're interested). Today I'm quoting from the New International Version translation.
The Word of the Lord:

Wisdom Bestows Well-Being

1 My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,

2 for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.

3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord and shun evil.

8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.

9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;

10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing,
and your vats will brim over with new wine.

11 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,

12 because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.[b]

13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
those who gain understanding,

14 for she is more profitable than silver
and yields better returns than gold.

15 She is more precious than rubies;
nothing you desire can compare with her.

16 Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.

17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
and all her paths are peace.

18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
those who hold her fast will be blessed.

19 By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations,
by understanding he set the heavens in place;

20 by his knowledge the watery depths were divided,
and the clouds let drop the dew.

21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
preserve sound judgment and discretion;

22 they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.

23 Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble.

24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

25 Have no fear of sudden disaster
or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,

26 for the Lord will be at your side
and will keep your foot from being snared.

27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,
when it is in your power to act.

28 Do not say to your neighbor,
“Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—
when you already have it with you.

29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor,
who lives trustfully near you.

30 Do not accuse anyone for no reason—
when they have done you no harm.

31 Do not envy the violent
or choose any of their ways.

32 For the Lord detests the perverse
but takes the upright into his confidence.

33 The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked,
but he blesses the home of the righteous.

34 He mocks proud mockers
but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.

35 The wise inherit honor,
but fools get only shame.

Proverbs 3:6 Or will direct your paths

Proverbs 3:12 Hebrew; Septuagint loves, / and he chastens everyone he accepts as his child

Honestly, it occurs to me that, even though He's perfect, people were downright mean to Jesus while He walked among us, and all He did was try to love them. Isn't that heart-breaking to you, Reader? I mean, God walked among us and we rejected Him. I wonder how many times I have rejected Him myself.

I bolded some of today's Proverb that really sticks out to me, some of which shows me how I have recently been in error (see verse 30). I'm totally willing to own when/where I'm wrong because that's the only way to conquer (whatever it is), by first owning Truth.
Since I don't know how to go about conquering these flaws in my power alone, the only thing I can think to do is pour a lot of the Word into me and spend time seeking His Face in prayer. So here are some chapters that I've read today; I'm only going to post them by way of links because it would make this blog entry way, way too long to post each chapter.
I picked this one because it talks about how we rejected Him:
Isaiah 53
Then I picked this chapter: James 1
Also John 8

I'm going to leave you with a beautiful worship song, one of my old favorites again and I'll include the lyrics (which I'll highlight as well):

Now behold the Lamb
(Thank You) the Precious Lamb of God
Born into sin that I may live again
The Precious Lamb of God
now behold the Lamb
The Precious Lamb of God
(Thank You) born into sin that I may live again
The Precious Lamb of God
Holy is the Lamb
The Precious Lamb of God
Why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know
The Precious Lamb of God
Holy is the Lamb
The Precious Lamb of God
Why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know
The Precious Lamb of God
Now behold the Lamb
The Precious Lamb of God
Born into sin that I may live again
He's the precious Lamb of God
When I always didn't do right
I went left, He told me to go right
But I'm standing right here
In the midst of my tears, Lord
I thank You to be the Lamb of God (Holy)
Thank You for the Lamb (thank You for the Lamb of God)
The Precious Lamb of God (You are the Lamb of God)
Because of Your grace
I can finish this race
The Precious Lamb of God (Lamb of God)
Even when I broke, broke Your heart
My sins tore us apart
But I'm standing right here
In the midst of my tears
I claim You to be the Lamb of God
New life can begin (yeah)
(You washed away all my sins)
For You washed away, washed away every one of my sins
(Whom the Son sets free)
Whom the Son sets free, is truly free indeed
I claim You to be the Lamb of God
Now behold the Lamb
The Precious Lamb of God
(Born into) born into sin that I may live again
The Precious Lamb of God
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know (never know)
(Why You love me so)
(Why You love me so)
(I'll never know)
Why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know
(Lamb, I really never knew)
(I never knew, oh never knew)
(Never knew, no no no)
Why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know
The Precious Lamb of God
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know (I shall never never never know)
The Precious Lamb of God
Woo!
(Praise Your Holy name, Jesus)
Woohoo!
We praise Your name, Jesus)
You love me, Jesus
You died for me, Jesus
You shed your blood for me, Jesus on calvary
Thank you for being born for me, Jesus
Thank You, Jesus
For lovin' me so
Never never never know
For lovin' me so, yeah
Thank You for Your blood yeah
Why You love me so, Lord
I shall never know
The Precious Lamb of God
